Age limits are: Maxi Talent – 13 years of age and over. Mini Talent – 12 years of age and under. (age of each contestant as of 1st of current year). The NYS Fair talent will accept up to, but no more than the top 25 mini, and up to, but no more than, the Top 25 Talent Hunt acts from county level preliminary talent competitions. The 50% rule will be strictly adhered to concerning groups – in a duo, if one contestant is 12 and the other is 13 am they will compete inthe Maxi Division. In a group of three or larger if 50% or more of the group and over they will compete in the Maxi Division. No contestant over the age of 14 may perform in a mini division group.

  1. Time limit for each act must not exceed five (5) minutes. Any act running over 5 minutes will be disqualified.
  2. No acts using batons or machetes, knives, etc., will be accepted.
  3. No fire will be allowed on stage during the competition.
  4. Contestants must not be/have been under contract for reimbursement for their performan Expense money should not be considered reimbursement for performance.
  5. To be eligible for the New York State Fair Talent Showcase, contestants must have performed AND Placed in the top 25 in the Ontario County Fair Talent Show.
  6. Contestants must be from Ontario County and surrounding counties.
  7. Contestants may enter only one county competitor, to be eligible to perform in the NYS Fair Talent Showcase competition.

 

SPECIAL NOTE: In a group situation, if all performers do not reside in the same county, the group must compete in the county that the majority of performers reside. Age requirements for groups as outlined in rule number one (1) above, are also in effect.

 

*9. Contestants must perform the same act and / or same number they did at the County Level if they go on to State.

*10. A contestant can perform only ONE (1) solo and as a member of only TWO (2) other groups. If this rule is violated, the contestant and the group will be disqualified.

*11. New York State Fair MINI CONTEST – The daily top 10 place winners will be eligible to enter the Semi-Final Mini Contest at the N.Y. State Fair Talent Contest, date and time to be announced.

*12. New York State Fair MAXI CONTEST – The daily top 10 place winners will be eligible to enter the Semi- Final Talent Contest at the N.Y. State Fair Talent Contest, date and time to be announced.

*13. The top 25 place winners from the New York State Fair Semi-Final Mini Contest and the top 25 MAXI place winners from the New York State Fair Semi-Final Talent Contest will be eligible to enter the FINAL

*14. Previous FIRST PLACE MINI and MAXI CONTEST WINNERS are not eligible to enter the Finals in the same category, e.g. a solo winner may not return as a soloist. He or she may, however, perform as part of a duet, trio, or group.

  1. Teachers are not permitted to compete or perform in their professional talent, g. a dance teacher could not compete as a dancer. This rule does not apply to students under scholarship who assist in teaching.
  2. Contestants using recordings for their performance must deliver a cassette in “New Condition” to the registration desk. Cassettes should be labeled “STEREO” or “MONO” and have the name of your act on i The cassette or cd must only contain the selection to be performed.
  3. No piano at the local lev There is one at the State Fair level. Sound system will be provided at each.
  4. No Rock Bands will be scheduled.
  5. Transportation to and from the Fair … meals and lodging are the responsibility of the contestan
  6. There is no entry fee of any kind.

  8. Dressing area limited at the local level might want to come dressed but available at the State Level.

There is no entry fee, but paying for parking at admittance to the fairgrounds is expected. Parking is $8.00 per car load, or $5.00 per singles in car, and motorcycles, and walk-in’s.

 

The Ontario County Fair Board reserves the right to fit you in the category that we feel best fits the program and if necessary may limit the number of acts.
